Don't Get Excited: Dak Isn't Elite, And He Ain't Getting Dallas A Ring

I saw WAY too much Dak praise today, so as a proud Dak-hater I have to come out and let ya'll know: Dak is not taking Dallas to the Superbowl. It just isn't happening. He is not on the level of the top QBs in the league. The man's defense could be number one in the league and he'd still fuck it up for them somehow. "Dak is elite, you're just a hater" No he's not, and yes the fuck I am.

Dak is a good quarterback. That's it though. GOOD. He is not great. Do you know who his stats are comparable to? You know one probably already, which would be Kirk Cousins. Take a look for yourself, I'm not gonna break it down piece by piece for you. Do you know who else has comparable stats to Dak Prescott? A man you Cowboys Fans know and love: Tony Fucking Romo.

Yup, Dak is just Tony Romo all over again. I took a trip to stathead.com just to confirm my beliefs. I did the filter based on how many games started and stopped Tony's as close to Dak's as I could. This way, I could get the best gauge of each QB's performance. Here's what I got:

RkPlayerFromToGGSCmpAttIncCmp%YdsTDIntPick6TD%Int%Rate
1Dak Prescott2016202310310323173473115666.7262761726995297.4

So, if you take a look at the "GS (Games Started) category, you will see that Dak is behind by five games. So I thought I would lay out what he has to do in the next five games to catch up to Tony Romo. In the next five games, Dak needs to-
  • Pass for 3,289 yards or more
  • Throw 35 more touchdowns
  • Not let his rating drop more than 1.6%
  • Have 122 more completions (or he can do 40.4% completion as well)
Some of these are doable, and some just straight up are not going to happen. Even if by some miracle they did, he would still only reach Tony Romo status, which would just prove my point. So it seems we have concluded what you all should've been aware of this entire time. Dak is average.

This took some extra time to make, but it was worth it to show people like Skip Bayless to stop trying to flex on people with and extremely mediocre QB. His personality and play are like white rice: It does the job, but a lot of things are much much better. Sorry Dallas fans, looks like we're gonna have to find a new hero for ya. That is, unless he's already there...?

Lol, nah.
