The away game curse continues. Today the Colts got absolutely fuckin whooped by the Jaguars. The final score was 37-20 and that doesn't even properly show how bad they played today. I don't know what is so scary about the atmosphere of Duval County, but it seems to consistently make the Colts play like shit. Gardner Minshew played like he was a double agent today, throwing three interceptions. All those passing yards were him trying to make up for his previous fuck-ups so don't let it fool you. I still love the guy (it's legitimately impossible not to) but damnit boys ya'll really let me down today.
On another note, Trevor Lawrence and the Jags seem to be pretty fuckin legit. Etienne was a beast all day (contrary to my prediction) and the defense was absolutely lights out. I thought maybe they had just got the Bills off guard the previous week, but they showed today they are more than legitimate. They have taken the AFC South crown for the time being and from what we saw today, it is going to be a pain in the ass to take it from them. If they keep at the pace that they're currently going, they just might be the team to beat come January. So now that we've established the Jaguars are very good, what does that make the Colts?
The Colts are good-ish, and ideally that's where they want to keep it in order to show improvement from last year. They can actually both surprise good teams and beat the teams they're supposed to beat. It has been quite a long time since that statement was true. Today was a good sobering realization that we are not all the way there yet. The teams that are at the next level talent-wise will still take them to the back and stomp their throats in. And they needed to know that sooner rather than later so the fans aren't clinging on to too much hope too late in the season and having their hearts shattered. The defense needed the wake up call that not every team is going to struggle against them, and they'll still have to turn it up all the way in order to stay competitive. The offense just needs to get the chemistry going. Josh Downs did play great today and is showing he has a lot of value to compliment Pittman. Zack Moss and JT didn't really do all that well but I have no worries about that, they'll still have the games where they're the best RB duo in the NFL. It is good to know now though, that the Colts will indeed not be sending Patrick Mahomes home in the AFC Championship game this year only to then absolutely curb stomp whatever NFC team in the superbowl. For now...
The delusion can return at any moment.
