That is not the result I expected last night. I had completely forgotten that the Vikings can be a good team sometimes. Like, I knew they were good-ish, but definitely not upset the 49ers good. What the fuck is going on in San Fran? Deebo gets injured and the entire offense just falls apart? Did Brock really depend on him that much?
Brock Purdy did not do well last night. Completion percentage was good, but that was about it. One touchdown to two interceptions, and those interceptions were especially brutal. They both came in the fourth quarter, one to put the Niners in a tough spot to comeback and win, the other to completely end the game and take away the chance of winning. It felt as if once the Vikings figured out that Brock Purdy likes throwing to George Kittle, it was a smooth ride for their defense. It also helped that Brock did not adjust in the slightest. The Niners on defense was under-performing as well, unable to get a single sack on Kirk Cousins' 45 passing attempts. I don't know what's happened over these past two weeks to this team, but they need to figure out how to fix it time now.
How about them Vikings though? Kirk Cousins looked AMAZING last night. Watching his throws and ability to escape pressure was insane and made him look like he was 25. No matter who was at receiver, he shared the love all across the field. It was Jordan Addison who really showed out in the receiving corps though. 7 receptions, 123 yards and 2 TDs. What a clutch performance in the absence of Jefferson. Kirk must've been relieved as all hell knowing that he has another receiver to throw to. The Vikings are now 3-4, and it's pretty helpful that the Lions got smashed by the Ravens to go to 5-2. They're still in the race for the NFC North, and their next opponents are the Packers, the Falcons, the Saints, the Broncos and the Bears. That could very well be 8-4 and the Vikings could be right there in the NFC North or on their way to a Wild Card.
Where do the 49ers go from here? They need to do something to get their act together. They got the Bengals next, so it could very possibly be three losses in a row after next week. Brock needs to learn to not force the ball to Kittle and move it around more in crunch time. They ideally should be fine, the Niners are still a dominant team, they just are hitting a bump right now. They better get the fuck over it though, because they're currently really fucking up the equilibrium of who I should think is a good or bad team.
