Why Are Coaches Defending Shitty Quarterbacks?

I am starting to think that the NFL has gotten a little too soft as of late. Before anyone starts bitching, I am not talking about tackling and roughing the passer penalties right now, that issue is far too complicated to have a proper opinion on right now. I am talking about NFL teams not taking the time to properly analyze their teams and make objective decisions in order to win championships. Week after week, there is awful performance from NFL quarterbacks that shows absolutely no signs of growth or improvement. Yet when their is a press conference after the game, the coach will needlessly defend their QB's shitty play to the death and insist that said QB is "their guy". Why? I understand the principle of defending your own people don't get me wrong, but if you're trying to win a championship, why are you sticking with a formula that straight up is not working?

Let's start with Zach Wilson. The New York Jets essentially have every piece they need in order to be a great football team. They got Aaron Rodgers and the puzzle was completed. Then Aaron Rodger tore his Achilles tendon five minutes into the first game of the season. The theories started to fly as to who the Jets would go an pick up to temporarily help the offense stay on track while Rodgers was out. Robert Saleh proceeding to tell everyone that apparently Zach Wilson would do fine in Rodgers' absence. He was incorrect, and continues to be incorrect. 30th in completion percentage, 30th in touchdowns, and 24th in passing yards. That is not a QB that will be taking a team to the playoffs anytime soon. The only reason we can have grace on Wilson is because he had to step in suddenly, but the fact that the Jets made absolutely no attempt to amend the QB problem and keep their playoff hopes alive is just fucking stupid. At the end of the day a football team is a business. As a coach, you should worry about results, not player's feelings or "belief in your system". That shit doesn't play.

Now we'll talk about another QB in New York that actually even baffles me more than Zach Wilson: Daniel Jones. Why in the red, white and blue FUCK did the Giants give him that contract. That money would be better spent funding gasoline costs for an amateur arsonist that has a particular liking to banks in order to burn even more money. Brian Daboll helped shape Josh Allen into the QB he is today, that is just a fact. I just cannot force myself to get into a mindset where I believe that Brian Daboll thought he could do something with Daniel Jones. Especially enough to invest a future in him. That is almost as big of a robbery as paying over $200 million to have a (alleged) sexual predator move into your city and then not even throw the football like you paid him to do. Jones is 34th in touchdowns and 31st in passing yards. Tyrod Taylor looked like a god compared to Jones in TWO FUCKING GAMES. To make things even more frustrating, Daboll needlessly defended him just like Saleh. This media training has gone too far and coaches need to either say the shit how it is or be like Belichick and not say anything at all. Do the right thing Daboll. Make Daniel Jones an overpaid wide receiver, I've said it multiple times and still firmly believe it can actually benefit you more than having him under center.

Okay wow, I kinda went off on those guys. I meant everything I said though, and would have no problem standing my ground in any situation. No, I don't think my 5ft 7in, 145lb scrawny ass could go in a game and outplay these guys, but that's not the point of this. The point remains as stated: Teams need to stop catering to their team and run them like businesses. Get results, if results don't happen over a provable period of time, change something. No, it is not always the QB, sometimes it can be the coach (looking at Matt Eberflus here). In these two specific cases mentioned above, it is most definitely the QB, and they need to go. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how much longer these teams want to disappoint their fans.
